# Limbiq3D

> Clinical-grade LiDAR 3D scanning for prosthetics, orthotics, bodies and objects — from iPhone, iPad, or Mac (Apple silicon).

Limbiq3D is an Apple app that turns any LiDAR-equipped iPhone or iPad into a clinical-grade 3D scanner. It also runs on Mac computers with Apple silicon (Designed for iPad) for viewing, measuring, and exporting. It is designed for prosthetists, orthotists, clinicians, and engineers who need accurate 3D captures of limbs, torsos, or any physical object.

Start with Object or Body scan. Guided LiDAR capture produces a precise 3D model. Viewing, measuring, and mesh enhancement are free. New users get 2 free Standard exports (lifetime); Quad Mesh is never free. When you unlock further exports, Standard formats are STL, OBJ, and USDZ, with optional Fusion-ready Quad Mesh. Scans and optional patient records sync via the user's private iCloud — not Limbiq servers.

## Device requirements

- Capture: iPhone or iPad with a LiDAR sensor (rear-facing), iOS/iPadOS 17.0 or later
- View / measure / export: any device signed into the same Apple ID, including Mac (Apple silicon, Designed for iPad)
- Compatible iPhones: iPhone 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max (Pro models only — standard iPhone, Plus, and SE have no LiDAR)
- Compatible iPads: iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd gen, 2021), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th gen, 2021), iPad Pro 11-inch (4th gen, 2022), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (6th gen, 2022), iPad Pro 11-inch (M4, 2024), iPad Pro 13-inch (M4, 2024). Note: 2020 iPad Pro models have LiDAR but use the A12Z chip and are not supported.

## Export formats

- **STL** — universal mesh format, widely supported by CAD/CAM and 3D printing software
- **OBJ** — widely used mesh format for CAD and 3D workflows
- **USDZ** — Apple's AR-ready format, opens in Xcode, Reality Composer, and QuickLook
- **Quad Mesh** — clean quad retopology, ready to import into Autodesk Fusion 360 or similar tools

Exports are millimetre-scaled for CAD/print. From Compare, a matched digital vs real-world pair can set export scale so shared STL/OBJ match the tape measure (on-screen mm stay uncorrected; USDZ stays metric). Free Measurements report PDF (Digital / Real-world / Δ) can ship alone or with a CAD share. `.limbiqscan` includes measurements.json (on-scan + real-world + calibration).

## Product notes

- Optional patient records (name, optional DOB, optional clinic ID) group body scans in the library; private iCloud only
- Measurements: on-mesh tap distances (mm), clinical real-world fields, compare digital vs real-world (Δ), free Measurements report PDF
- Free mesh enhancement: Clean, Close mesh, Retopologize, Sharpen, Denoise, Smooth, Add detail, interactive junk removal
- Share a single scan as `.limbiqscan` (AirDrop / Files / email); full library backup as `.limbiqbackup`
- Foam impression box is a first-class orthotic scan mode
